Innovation Nexus Design System

My role:

Lead product designer, Design system manager

duration:

2020-ongoing

team size:

Scaled from 3 to 20+ cross-functional members

Overview

My role as the design system designer and manager of the Innovation Nexus Design System has enabled the team to streamline onboarding for both the design and development teams, standardise common design patterns and ship features more efficiently. This furthered client adoption across the PwC territories, such as Germany, Canada, the US, and the Middle East. This also has increased the efficiency to validate concepts at a much earlier stage before it was brought into development implementation and has saved the team a significant amount of resources.

Key outcomes

  • Established PwC UK’s only pro-code design system.

  • Cut down the time from gathering requirements to validating concepts by 80%, saving the firm at least £2250 per designer per week.

  • Enabled onboarding and team growth of design and development by 600%. We were a team of 4 to now a product team of 24.

Crafting a design language for Innovation Nexus

My role:

Senior Product Designer

duration:

2023

team size:

3 members

Overview

The term ‘Innovation’ is considered to be quite abstract and intangible. And innovation management software is quite niche, there isn’t a familiar mental model, eg., such as email software or word processing software. Therefore, when it comes to deciding on what to call specific features, we’ve received numerous feedback from clients about confusing names. As a result, I took the opportunity to craft a new design language that sets up the foundational principles that unpins the design aspect of the new product strategy of 2024.

Key outcomes

  • Crafted a new design language that supports the conversation on explaining how innovation is managed on the platform.

  • Established a set of design principles that leads the future design vision of delivered features.

  • Delivered a set of artefacts that supported the communicating what the new strategy was.
